Day 1 to 3 - Shinde Camp, Okavango Delta

Fly from Maun to Shinde Camp

Lying in the middle of the largest expanse of sand on earth the Okavango Delta is one of Africa’s most amazing, sensitive and complex environments supporting a spectacle of wilderness and wildlife. Unique as one of the world’s few inland deltas, the placid waters and lush indigenous forests offer a safe haven for innumerable bird and wildlife species. The Okavango Delta offers a number of activities for the visitor; game viewing, birding and fishing are all on offer. One can experience this magical world of islands and waterways from land, air and water. Highlights include the elusive Sitatunga antelope which has found refuge in this pristine wetland ecosystem, while birds such as the African fish eagle, Pel's fishing owl and many others provide a spectacular display.

Shinde, newly refurbish in 2015, is an intimate classic camp located on the edge of Shinde Lagoon. Nestled on a lush palm island in the heart of the northern Okavango Delta, the area simply teems with animals and birdlife. The camps unique main area comprises a multi-tiered dining room and lounge which is set under canvas under the shade of ebony and mangosteen trees. Shinde comprises eight twin-bedded classic safari tents, each with en-suite bathrooms, hot and cold running water and flush toilet. Accommodation is generally twin share on comfortable three quarter beds, however double accommodation is available on request. Every possible comfort has been catered for – from generated electricity and a private viewing deck through to a handy flashlight! Each tent is strategically positioned to offer splendid views, whether across the Okavango Deltas mysterious waterways or open grasslands.

Courtesy of its location Shinde can offer both water and land activities year round. Day 3 to 5 - Khwai Tented Camp, Khwai River

Fly from Shinde Camp to Khwai

The Khwai area of the Okavango lies along the northern boundary of the Moremi Game Reserve.  This is an unfenced boundary allowing wildlife to move freely between the woodlands in the wet season when water is plentiful and back to permanent rivers and lagoons in the dry season. The Khwai area offers the same wildlife experience as the reserve with the added advantage of being a private concession which means the ability to do walking safaris and night drives.

Khwai Tented Camp has recently been relocated to a semi-permanent site within this community-run concession on the eastern border of the Moremi Game reserve. The new exclusive location of the Khwai Tented Camp, on the banks of a lagoon flowing into the Khwai river, acts as a boundary between the reserve and the community area, offering visitors staying here several unique ways to experience Africa. Besides the day-time drives which can feature Africa’s big attractions – lion, cheetah, leopard, wild dog, elephant, buffalo, hippo and giraffe – guests at Khwai Tented Camp are able to explore nature after sunset with a night drive. This activity, along with the guided walking safaris, is not usually permitted in the National Parks or Game reserves, and allows guests to get an up close and personal experience with some of Africa’s nocturnal and / or more elusive animals. The camp also provides the opportunity to explore the great stands of leadwood and mopane woodlands as well as open grasslands and banks of the Khwai river on foot.
You will enjoy spacious meru style tents elegantly set-up on wooden decking overlooking the tranquil waters of the lagoon. Accommodation includes en-suite bathroom facilities with flush toilets and al-fresco bucket showers. Enjoy your afternoons and evenings in the main dining and lounger area, where the furniture provides an aura of both colonial and traditional era’s. Simple yet elegant, the New Khwai Tented Camp provides guests with an authentic and exclusive safari experience.
Preserving the romance of yester-year, a simpler life in harmony with nature, Khwai Tented Camp will leave you longing to return to Africa. There are no permanent structures; everything can be removed to leave the wilderness exactly as it was found, minimizing the impact on the environment.

Day 5 to 7 - Linyanti Bush Camp, Chobe National Park

Fly from Khwai Tented Camp to Linyanti Bush Camp

Elephants, elephants and more elephants, there are few places that can beat Chobe for elephant viewing, be from land or a boat. Linyanti Bush Camp is situated on the banks of Linyanti Marsh in a private reserve which borders the western boundary of Chobe in the Chobe Enclave. The marshes are the only water source for miles around and attract water-adapted and desert-adapted wildlife, plus large numbers of birds.
Linyanti Bush Camp is an intimate 12-bed luxury tented camp on the banks of the Linyanti Marsh, within a Private Concession bordering the western boundary of Chobe in the Chobe Enclave. You will enjoy some of the most spacious and comfortable tented accommodation and beds available today. The bathrooms are private and en-suite, consisting of fixed showers which are housed under the tent and gas-heated, as well as a flush toilet for your convenience. The camp is limited to small exclusive groups who seek a personalized experience in a private concession away from the main tourist’s routes. Activities from the camp consist of game drives, walking, night drives, mokoro safaris, boat cruises, and fishing. Linyanti is best known for its large populations of Elephant and buffalo that congregate in vast numbers especially during the dry season. Other wildlife encounters include Lion, sable, roan, leopard, wild dog, the rare and elusive sitatunga antelope, red lechwe, hippo and crocodile, as well as other species of plains game. The area also offers spectacular birding all year round. The area's relative remoteness makes it a favored wild safari destination and one of the best sought after areas in Northern Botswana.
