Zambia Exploration - Day 1, the Zambezi

I spent a few days in October exploring destinations in Zambia, the first portion of my stay was on the Zambezi River, near Livingstone. I really enjoyed the camp I stayed at called Toka Leya, which is a Wilderness Safaris property, and includes a range of activities on the water and alongside it! Here are a couple of images to give you a feel for the region and the lodge! Most people would visit the falls but I wanted to spend the time on the river while the water levels are low at this time of year. The lodge images are supplied and just to show you the camp which is really beautiful and luxurious! #Photography

Welgevonden Debut

I have just spent the weekend in Welgevonden Game Reserve, located two and a half hours drive North of Johannesburg. This little gem of a reserve is made up primarily of private lodges, but there are a handful of commercial lodges to choose from. The reserve offers a nice diversity of game viewing in the ever changing terrain. Rocky riverine valleys give way to open grasslands and all the fauna and flora that go with. Although the big 5 are on the bill, for me this is more of a general game viewing safari destination and if you happen to tick off the big five during your stay it would be a bonus. I will Be back!

Jess & Matt's luxury South Africa Safari - The pictures say it all!

Jess & Matt's trip included the luxury Rovos Rail journer from Pretoria to Cape Town and then went to explore the Mother City [Cape Town] and the wine region and the whale coast before flying up to the Kruger to stay in two different lodges, one inside the Kruger and the other in the Sabi Sands. A big thank you to Jess & Matt for sharing their pictures with us - what a wonderful journey, and thank you for traveling with us! #CapeTown #winelands #Kruger #Timbavati

Cape Markets - to shop and explore

Many people ask us about markets in South Africa and of course there are many, which market is for you is a case of what you are looking for; art/craft, curios and African, food and wine with music are just some of the markets. Of the long-standing, traditional markets in Cape Town, there are two that are very well-known; Greenmarket Square in the heart of Cape Town is where artists and traders meet from all corners of the African continent to sell their wide range of fabrics, sculpture, art and beadwork. Visitors to the square are sure to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and pick up great bargains as souvenirs of their African adventure. At various times in history, Greenmarket square flea mark

Cape West Coast - Flower explosion

The West Coast National Park is much loved by bikers, hikers, birders, whale-watchers, plant-lovers, kite-boarders, kayakers and anglers. But if you’re not into all that action, just spend a little time following a tortoise around. Or sit and gaze at the antelope picking their way through spring flowers. There are times at the West Coast National Park when you may feel a case of sensory overload coming on. For photographers, that's usually in the first flush of spring. The waters of the Langebaan lagoon are a delicious turquoise fading to white at the shoreline. The wild flowers have turned the land orange, purple, yellow and pink all the way to the horizon. And then, entering stage left, a
