2 Night Unforgettable Victoria Falls - Zimbabwe

One of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Victoria Falls, remains the major attraction for visitors from around the globe. Waking up to the sound of “The smoke that thunders”, seeing the sun rise beneath the mist of this great and surreal force, not to mention the lunar rainbow at night, all the while soaking up the history and ambience of a bygone era, is more than unforgettable – it is life-altering, unique and truly spiritual.

Day 1  - Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

Arrive Victoria Falls International Airport – Private Transfer to hotel and check-in.

No matter how you decide to visit “The Smoke That Thunders” very few people are ever really prepared for the incredible beauty and mesmerising strength and power of the mighty Victoria Falls. The heart-pounding sensation of actually standing on the edge of the precipice above the raging waters is something quite unforgettable. Make your way along the designated path which takes you to the various 16 view points along the edge; from the Devil's Cataract, through the Rain Forest and on to Danger Point – the true magic of the Victoria Falls is that you will not find barriers or walls to keep you from the edge, so you can really experience the sheer might of the falls – up close!

The Victoria Falls Hotel, popularly known as “The grand old lady of the Falls”, is situated in the Victoria Falls National Park, a world heritage site, and is a member of the exclusive Leading Hotels of the World group. It is one of only three IS0-accredited hotels in Zimbabwe. The Edwardian-style five-star hotel, built in 1904, combines the charm of the old with the convenience of the new. Set in lush tropical gardens with lily ponds, palm trees and semi-tropical shrubs, it provides the tranquillity and seclusion that many guests seek. The famous Victoria Falls are just a ten-minute walk away using the hotel’s private pathway, and “The smoke that thunders” or “Mosi-O-Tunya” in the local dialect, is clearly audible and visible from this luxurious landmark.

The classically-elegant Edwardian-style Livingstone Room, which was totally refurbished in 2013, seats 120 people and opens only for dinner, featuring a la carte and table d’hôte menus. The opulent Livingstone Room consistently sets the benchmark for fine dining in Africa and features a la carte and a seven-course degustation menu, as well as dancing to a live band. In 2013 the distinguished venue was voted the Seventh finest restaurant in the world by The Daily Meal, a respected organization specializing in the field of global culinary excellence, style and ambiance.

Whilst the Livingstone Room reflects the century-old hotel’s style of grandeur and opulence, the dress code (previously tie and jacket) has been relaxed to smart-casual: sleeved collared shirt and closed shoes for men for the convenience of guests in this more relaxed modern era. Strictly no safari wear, shorts, sandals or sneakers!
