DETAILED ITINERARY

DAYS 1- 3

Begin your adventure with a flight to Lufupa where you will be met and transferred to camp.

Set on the edge of a peaceful lagoon, Musekese is an intimate, eco-friendly camp designed for guests who value atmosphere and connection to nature. Its spacious, open-fronted tents feature comfortable beds, en-suite bathrooms with flush toilets and bucket showers, and shaded verandas with lagoon views. The camp blends rustic simplicity with thoughtful touches, offering comfort without losing its bush authenticity.

Days begin with early morning tea or coffee before heading out on expertly guided game drives, walking safaris, or boat trips along the Kafue River. The area around Musekese is known for its diversity of wildlife, including leopard, lion, wild dog, and a wide range of antelope and bird species. After a relaxed lunch and siesta, guests venture out again in the late afternoon, often finishing with sundowners overlooking the water. Evenings are spent around the campfire sharing stories under a vast, star-filled sky.

DAYS 4 - 6

Indulge in the tranquil surroundings of Kafunta River Lodge, your home for the next three nights. Located on the banks of the Luangwa River, this established lodge provides a perfect base for exploring the renowned South Luangwa National Park. With their own river crossing and pont, you are able to avoid the main gate and traffic for your safari drives and night drives, this is a productive region and the focus is on vehicle based viewing of the mesmerizing wildlife that thrives in this diverse ecosystem.

DAYS 7/8

From Kafunta, take a short transfer deeper into the park for two nights at Three Rivers Camp, an intimate tented camp set at the confluence of the Luangwa, Kapamba, and Lusangazi rivers. The raised, open-fronted tents offer panoramic views, especially from their raised 'star bed' decks, where you can fall asleep to the sounds of the river and distant lion calls. Here, the focus is on walking safaris and quiet, low-impact exploration, accompanied by expert guides who bring the landscape and its wildlife to life.

DAYS 9 - 12

Chula Island is renowned for its exclusive lodge experience, with just a handful of tented suites or bandas set up for the season and designed to blend seamlessly into the natural surroundings. Each tent is open-plan with en-suite bathrooms, bucket showers, flushing toiltes, quality linen, a covered extension with seating, and sweeping views of the river, allowing you to wake up to wildlife wandering along the riverbanks.

Four days here are spent exploring the riverine and bush landscapes with guided activities such as canoeing, boat safaris, walking safaris, and safari drives. The area is rich in wildlife, including elephants, hippos, buffalo, and a wide variety of birdlife, making each excursion rewarding and intimate. Between safaris, guests can relax at their tent's covered area or enjoy a drink by the river.

Evenings at Chula Island are magical, with dinners under the stars, the grunts of hippos from the river in the background, and the feeling of complete seclusion. Guests consistently praise the lodge for its exceptional service, authentic yet luxurious atmosphere, and unique riverside setting, making it a truly unforgettable Zambian wilderness experience.
