I have just spent the weekend in Welgevonden Game Reserve, located two and a half hours drive North of Johannesburg. This little gem of a reserve is made up primarily of private lodges, but there are a handful of commercial lodges to choose from.
The reserve offers a nice diversity of game viewing in the ever changing terrain. Rocky riverine valleys give way to open grasslands and all the fauna and flora that go with. Although the big 5 are on the bill, for me this is more of a general game viewing safari destination and if you happen to tick off the big five during your stay it would be a bonus.
I will Be back!
